Colton Pilch accepts his award from

ANKENY, Iowa (October 15, 2018) - Ankeny High School student Colton Pilch was named one of the 15 Herbert Hoover Uncommon Students for 2018. On Saturday, Pilch presented the project that garnered him that distinction during the 21st Annual Herbert Hoover Uncommon Student Award Day.
For his project entitled Galeforce of Games, Pilch raised funds and solicited donations of board games for Ankeny's Kirkendall Library. He hosted monthly game days in order to build a community. Pilch has two upcoming game days November 18 and December 9, 2:30-4:30 p.m. at the library. The public is encouraged to attend. In total, he has outfitted the library with 90 games and funds for maintenance or new games.
The Herbert Hoover Uncommon Student Award recognizes and honors up to 15 Iowa high school juniors who propose and then accomplish a project of their own choosing and design.
