The Ankeny High School winter guard took home their fifth state title in Class III Color Guard during the annual Iowa State Drill Team Association Competition (ISDTA). The AHS team competed against nine other schools in their class, earning a Division I Superior rating and first place finish.
“This group is extremely dedicated and hard-working and their success is due in large part to their commitment to the process and their love of what they do,” said choreographer and coach Darrin Mell.
Members of the winter guard include: Lejla Ahmetovic, Isabella Pote, Rhianna Broeker, Jocelyn Ridgway, Jill Stroud, Carson Doss, Kabedi Mutamba, Marika Kisgen, Vanessa Coglizer, Abigail Bielecki, Lily Bretthauer, Emma Caruso, Mackenzie Halbur, Sydney Moberg, Elisabeth Poock, Megan McGuire, Kyle Monteverde, Anna Escherich, Claire McGohan, Emily Peterson, Molly Wick, and Riley Venn.
Coaches for the AHS winter guard are Darrin Mell, Erika Serbousek, and Jennifer Williams.
