Requirements to Demonstrate Knowledge of English

To be eligible to be awarded the Iowa Seal of Biliteracy, each student shall demonstrate proficiency in English.

Minimum proficiency scores on one of the following exams must be met to be considered.
The district will set the submission date of assessment proficiency scores and communicate that with students

ACT: American College Testing/English 18

ELPA21: English Language Proficiency Assessment for the 21st Century in grades 9- 12/4 or 5 in all domains (reading, writing, speaking, listening) which equates to overall proficiency of 3

ISASP or Iowa Assessments/Proficiency

AP Language or AP Literature Exam/3

SAT/English 470
