Vocal Music Adam Brown

Hello, my name is Adam Brown and this is my fifth year as Assistant Director of Choral Activities at Ankeny High School! Ensembles under my direction include Ankeny Singers (10-12 Mixed Choir) and Perpetual Motion (Intermediate Mixed Show Choir), as well as assisting other ensembles. In addition to my conducting responsibilities, I also teach individual/group voice lessons throughout the day, and our introductory music theory course, Music Fundamentals.

I graduated from Urbandale High School in 2012 and continued my education at the University of Northern Iowa, graduating Summa cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree of Music Education in 2016. While at UNI, I had amazing opportunities in choir, Opera, and chamber ensembles. My hope is that I can give my students the same incredible and life-changing experiences through music that I had. I completed my student teaching at Ashland Ridge Elementary (general music) and Ankeny Centennial High School (choir and show choir). This is my seventh year in the district and I’m super excited to continue living the Hawk Way!

In my free time, I like to be outdoors, doing things such as hiking, boating, and playing golf and rugby. I’m a big Chicago sports fan, and I’m sure my students will appreciate the amount of times they hear “Go Cubs Go” playing in the music room. I have two dogs, named Capone and Roscoe, that the students will likely hear several stories about.

I look forward to getting to know everyone. Feel free to call, or better yet, email me.
