Welcome to the Ankeny Substitute Center

Substitute educators play a crucial role in the day-to-day functioning of a school district. Whether filling in during professional training sessions for regular educators or managing extended teacher absences, the role of a substitute teacher is highly esteemed within the Ankeny Schools community. Teachers on Call® is honored to collaborate with the Ankeny School District to supply outstanding substitutes. TOC invests in its personnel, acknowledges their accomplishments, and is dedicated to the noble mission of educating our youth. You’ll have the flexibility to choose your preferred school building, opt for consistent daily work throughout the school week, or design a flexible schedule that accommodates your other life commitments. Teachers on Call

For educators wanting to serve as substitute teachers at ACSD, we offer the most competitive pay in the area:

  • Long Term Substitutes: $250.00 per day (after 10 consecutive days)
  • Teacher Substitute: $160 per day
  • Associate Substitute: $14.25 an hour
  • Special Education Associate Substitute: $14.25 an hour

Hired by Teachers on Call

  • Nurse (RN) Substitute: $140 per day*
  • Nurse (BSN) Substitute: $150 per day*
  • Food Service Substitute: $14.25 an hour*
  • Secretary Substitute: $14.25 an hour*
  • Custodian Substitute: $14.25 an hour*

All substitute personnel are required to undergo a criminal background check and possess a valid Iowa Teaching License, Iowa Substitute License, or Iowa Substitute Authorization License.
