1st Grade Emily Garrido

My name is Emily Garrido and I am a first grade teacher at Heritage Elementary. I joined the Ankeny Community School District in 2023. I started my teaching career in 2012 in the metro Atlanta area where I taught Kindergarten, first, and third grade in Cobb County School District. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Kennesaw State University and a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education focusing on Teacher Support and Coaching in Mathematics from Georgia State University. I am certified to teach K-5 General Education, K-12 Gifted and Talented, K-12 English as a Second Language, and  K-8 Reading. I am passionate about education and feel strongly that school is a place for students to feel cared for and safe to learn. Building relationships with students and families is a top priority and I and I am so excited to do that at Heritage Elementary.
