District Special Education Coach Erin Van Dorin

Hello!!!
My name is Erin Van Dorin and I am the TAP (Transitions Alliance Program/ VR services) Director for Centennial High school. I started my work in Special Education over twelve years ago when I owned a restaurant and had students from a 12+ program using our restaurant to teach employability and soft skills. That work with students ultimately led me to change my career and start working in the educational field. I have worked in Special Education teaching behavior and employability skills the last seven years. My passion is to help students be as prepared as they can be for life and work after graduation.

I am a Des Moines native. My husband and I have three children (Addison-23, Ivee-18 and Jayla-16). In my spare time I enjoy biking, cooking and traveling. We also have two Old English Sheepdogs named Weasley and Winnie.

My undergraduate degree in Secondary Special Education is from Drake University and my Masters in Special Education Consultation and Instructional Coaching is from the University of Northern Iowa. My endorsements include: Strat 1 (5-12), Strat 2 ID/BD/LD (K-12), Talented and Gifted, Work Experience Coordinator and Special Education Consultant.
