Interventionist Gail Vander Wilt

Hello Ankeny Families! I am the Academic/Behavior Interventionist at Southeast Elementary. As an interventionist, I have the opportunity to work with students K-5 in individual or small group settings to help grow their reading and math proficiency.

Before coming to Ankeny, I graduated from Wartburg College with my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education with endorsements in reading and coaching in 2002. I obtained my Masters Degree in Professional Development and Teaching Effectiveness from Drake University and my Reading Specialist endorsement from Viterbo University. I began my teaching career in Perry, Iowa teaching 2nd grade from 2002-2004. I then came to Ankeny as a 1st /2nd Grade Literacy/Math teacher (’04-’06) before moving into 3rd grade at Northeast Elementary for 14 years. In addition to teaching, I am an assistant high school girls cross country coach for Centennial High School.
