1st Grade Heather Forland

Hello! My name is Heather Forland and I teach First Grade at Westwood Elementary. I have been married to my husband, Matt, since October 2012. I have three children and I love spending time with my family. We enjoy going on walks, going out to eat, and going to church together.

I started my teaching career in 2015 at Des Moines Public Schools. I worked in Des Moines for five years and while I was there I taught 2nd grade and 4th grade. In the fall of 2020, I started on my new path in Ankeny at Westwood Elementary. I have taught 2nd grade and 1st grade at Westwood. I have a passion for helping the kids find their love of learning. I love building relationships with my students and their families. I like to challenge the kids but also love to teach ALL kids on their learning level. I love to teach the children about how to be respectful, responsible and safe leaders inside and outside of the classroom.
