Vocal Music Jill Bjorklund

Jill Bjorklund is the 8th and 9th Grade Treble Clef Choir Director at Southview Middle School and co-directs Dynamite, the 8th grade show choir, with Mr. David Sponder.  Jill taught 6 years in the Wapsie Valley CSD and 2 years in the Collins-Maxwell CSD before moving to Ankeny.  Her first 5 years of service in the district were at Parkview Middle School where she directed 6th Grade Choirs and 7th Grade Treble Clef Choirs.

In 2018, Jill added a Master’s in Education from Drake University to her Bachelors of Music Education from the University of Northern Iowa.  She is an active member of the Iowa Choral Directors Association, having presented research at the 2018 Summer Symposium and adjudicated several years of OPUS Honor Choir auditions.  She is currently the 5th/6th OPUS Chair for the state and served as guest director for the 2019 South Central ICDA 6th Grade Honor Choir and directed the 2019 Council Bluffs All-City Vocal Festival.

Jill and her husband, Mark, also a musician, enjoy performing together and conducting choirs in the community.  The Bjorklunds have three children: Benjamin, Lily, and Brielle.
