5th Grade Kati Ploeger

I grew up in Ankeny and went to Westwood as a child! I am so excited to be back. I have been teaching 5th grade for 7 years! I received my teaching degree at the University of Northern Iowa and my Masters from Northwestern College. Some of my favorite things about fifth grade are seeing my students grow–academically and physically! I really love to teach science in fifth grade and show my fifth graders many fascinating chapter books. Each year I challenge my fifth graders to read 40 books in the school year. One really exciting thing about being a fifth grade teacher is that I get to prepare my students for middle school, while it may be a little scary at times it is one of the neat things. I have three dogs: Luna, Chloe and Walter. I enjoy reading, traveling, and going to dinner with friends and family.
