Principal Kristin Barber

My name is Kristin Barber, and I am the principal at Northeast Elementary. I am honored to serve our community’s students, staff, and families. I grew up in Ankeny and attended East Elementary for kindergarten through third grade and Northeast Elementary for fourth, fifth, and sixth grade. I also went to Parkview, Northview, and graduated from Ankeny High School. My husband and I have two children who both attend schools in Ankeny. I received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Northern Iowa in Elementary and Early Childhood Education with Special Education. I received my reading endorsement and master’s degree from Viterbo University while fulfilling my administrative degree at Iowa State University. Before becoming a principal in Ankeny, I was a principal in Ames for five years and I started my educational career with the North Polk School District.

The Northeast learning community is a committed family that welcomes, challenges, inspires, and supports all learners. As a Leader in Me Lighthouse School, our students learn and apply the eight habits of highly effective people within their classrooms, school, and community. Our Northeast staff engages in ongoing learning and development as leaders while championing leadership for Northeast. Northeast Elementary is the place to lead, care, inspire, and achieve!
