Family and Consumer Science Mackenzie Sleeth

Hello my name is Mackenzie Sleeth, I am new to the Ankeny community school district and to the teaching profession as I recently graduated in the fall of 2023 from Iowa State. I hold a bachelors in family and consumer sciences education and an associates in culinary arts (from DMACC’s ICI program). Prior to teaching I spent many years in the hospitality field where I managed one of Des Moines busiest restaurants downtown. I also attended Central Campus’s culinary arts program for all three years where I was able to learn about all things culinary arts (including baking and pastries) participate in multiple culinary related competitive events, earn college credits, help cater different events, and was a member of some of the organizations related to the fcs area such as SkillsUSA, Prostart, and FCCLA. I feel incredibly lucky to be able to share my passion with students at AHS, and hope to teach them all of the things I know and more! I enjoy spending my free time traveling and experiencing new things and places with my partner and two children.
