Language Arts Mike Radue

Born and raised in Geneseo, IL. Played all kinds of sports growing up (cross country, soccer, golf, basketball and baseball).  For my undergraduate work, I majored in Elementary Education and English at Augustana College in Rock Island, IL.  Played basketball for the Vikings, came off the bench as a freshman during the 1993 Final Four season.  Continued on to earn a master’s degree in Instructional Technology at Western Illinois University.  After teaching middle school English for four years, I entered the private business sector and served in a variety of management roles responsible for training and education of employees over the next 13 years.

Several years ago, I returned to education as a middle school teacher and instructional coach in Davenport, Iowa.  Having lived and worked in the Quad Cities area my whole life, I was looking for a new professional challenge in a new geographic location and Ankeny was an excellent opportunity.  So I packed everything up and relocated to the Des Moines area.  I recently completed a program through Drake University focused on online teaching pedagogy. In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I serve as the 8th grade Boy’s Cross Country Coach.

I have raised three children who are living on their own.  My daughter Alexandria lives and works in the Charlotte, NC area.  My son Ethan works for a restoration company in the Quad Cities area.  My son Quentin is based out of the Quad Cities area but travels routinely around the country for work.  In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my wife Christy outdoors hiking, biking, camping etc.
