Reading Teacher Mike Radue
Born and raised in Geneseo, IL. Played all kinds of sports growing up (cross country, soccer, golf, basketball and baseball). For my undergraduate work, I majored in Elementary Education and English at Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. Played basketball for the Vikings, came off the bench as a freshman during the 1993 Final Four season. Continued on to earn a master’s degree in Instructional Technology at Western Illinois University. After teaching middle school English for four years, I entered the private business sector and served in a variety of management roles responsible for training and education of employees over the next 13 years.
I have raised three children who are all in their twenties, out of the house and off the payroll. My daughter Alexandria lives and works in the Hilton Head South Carolina area. My two sons, Ethan and Quentin, are based out of the Quad Cities area but travel routinely around the country for work.
Several years ago, I returned to education as a middle school teacher and instructional coach in Davenport, Iowa. Having lived and worked in the Quad Cities area my whole life, I was looking for a new professional challenge in a new geographic location and Ankeny was an excellent opportunity. So I packed everything up and relocated to the Des Moines area. I recently completed a program through Drake University focused on online teaching pedagogy.
In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I serve as the Yearbook Adviser and 8th grade Boy’s Cross Country Coach. In my free time, I enjoy hiking and camping at the Iowa State Parks. I enjoy riding my bike on the Trestle Trail and playing disc golf.
