Language Arts Scott Fratella

Hello! I am excited to be teaching English 9 this year at Northview Middle School. I have taught in the Ankeny Community School District since 2014.  I received my B.A. in English and Religious Studies at the University of Iowa, as well as my M.A.T. in Secondary English Education (go Hawks!). Prior to teaching, I worked in the transportation industry for several years, where I learned first-hand how important it is to be an effective communicator. During my graduate studies in education, I also worked at the College of Education’s Writing Center, assisting graduate students in the writing of their Ph.D. dissertations. As such, I feel I have a solid grasp of how the knowledge and skills that students learn in English Language Arts translate into success in both academic and career settings.

My goal is for my students to finish 9th grade as capable and confident readers, writers, speakers, and thinkers.  I look forward to partnering with students and parents to make it a great year!
