2023-2024 Title Funding Budget

Title funding

Title funds are federal monies that supplement, not replace, existing state funding for education. In Ankeny, we have used Title funds to support initiatives to improve student learning and strengthen their school experience.

As a required part of the process, public comments will be accepted until October 1 about the District’s proposed budget (see link below). Your feedback will provided to the Ankeny Board of Education (ABoE) regarding allowable adjustments.

Title Program allocations:
Title IA:
This allocation funds salaries and benefits of four Interventionist positions at four elementary buildings: East, Heritage, Northwest, and Southeast. In addition, the district must budget a reserve for homeless student assistance in the amount of $100 per eligible Title I student, approximately $4,500. The homeless set aside funds will be used for expenditures including childcare, mileage reimbursement, and PE uniforms. The allocation for Title IA is approximately $391,630 and includes both the district and nonpublic portions.

Title IIA: This allocation funds salaries and benefits associated with the professional learning of instructional staff. The 2023-2024 Title IIA allocation is approximately $201,040 and includes both the district and nonpublic portions.

Title III: This allocation funds the Language Instruction Education Program (LIEP). This assistance has been in the form of supporting program reviews providing instructional materials and resources to support our English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) students. The 2023-2024 Title III allocation is approximately $27,055.

Title IVA Guidance: In accordance with this guidance, 25% of the District’s allocation is used for safe and healthy students. An additional 60% will support a well-rounded education, and the final 15% is for activities related to the effective use of technology. The 2023-2024 Title IVA allocation is approximately $26,680 and includes the district and nonpublic portions*.
*Note: Some of the Title Programs include a nonpublic component. The Ankeny Schools Academic Services Team has consultation meetings with the two district nonpublic schools to discuss and identify uses for the funds. The district purchases the items or reimburses nonpublic staff directly for allowable activities and retains title to any equipment or materials purchased per federal guidelines.

Public feedback is accepted through October 1, 2023.
