Share Your Insight: How Do Dr. King’s Ideals Resonate with You?

The Ankeny Community School District is partnering with community organizations to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther, King, Jr.  As part of the celebration, all students and staff are invited to participate in the following: 

Annual Creative Expression Event

Submission deadline: Thursday, January 11

Students of all ages and staff in all roles in our school community are invited to submit works of visual, literary, and/or performing arts that creatively express what the following ideal of Dr. King’s means to them:

It starts with me. Developing a positive culture and climate through service and education.” 

All staff are encouraged to apply and to share this information with students!  More information on the competition and how to apply is available here


Community-Wide Service Project: Monday, January 15 

Students, staff, and families in our school community are invited to participate in a community-wide day of service by donating food, clothing, an/or other essentials (including some that will be provided to students in need) at locations throughout the city.  Students interested in volunteering at the event should contact event coordinator, Renee Potts to express interest and should speak with their principal / silver cord coordinator about the potential for earning silver cord hours.
