I’ll Make Me a World Education Day

I’ll Make Me a World in Iowa (Iowa’s African American Festival) held its Education Day Friday, Feb. 3, 2023. The event was open to middle and high school students with the important goal of promoting education, awareness and preservation around African-American history. Ankeny students had the opportunity to participate in numerous workout sessions related to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), as well as poetry and storytelling. Students also had the opportunity to hear from state legislators, business executives and college advisors from across the state. It was an amazing experience to broaden cultural awareness and appreciation. Thank you to our staff (Davena Johnson, Michael Allen, Ashley Wilson, and Arin Renaud) for taking the time to make this possible for our Ankeny students.
