The Ankeny Centennial High School Marching Band will march in the National Veterans Day Parade in New York City on November 11th, 2023.

The NYC Veterans Day Parade features over 20,000 participants, including veterans of all eras, active duty military, ROTC and JrROTC units, civic and youth groups, all accompanied by music performed by a selection of our nation’s best high school marching bands, drill teams, and step dancers. Floats, military and vintage vehicles, and other special contingents add to the spectacle and excitement of the parade, which is viewed annually by over 400,000 spectators.

This trip will provide the students with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform in New York City for over 400,000 spectators, but also the opportunity to honor our nation’s veterans and to say “thank you for serving” while representing Ankeny Centennial High School and the Ankeny community on a national level.

While in New York, the students will also visit the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, Rockefeller Center, and Central Park and see a Broadway Show.

The Ankeny Centennial High School Marching Band has 226 members and is under the direction of Scott Hook, Brogan Kearney, Janelle Hook, Marcus Price, Mary Klemm-Harris, and Jake Thieben. They are assisted by Olivia Klaas, Tyler Christofferson, and Zoe Smith.
