Celebrating Ankeny’s Youth Leaders and Achievers!

The City of Ankeny hosted its annual Youth Leadership Symposium on Saturday, April 27, 2024. This symposium, held in collaboration with the Ankeny Mayor’s Youth Council, serves as a platform for our city’s young leaders to actively engage with the issues that resonate most with them.

As integral members of the Mayor’s Youth Council, students embark on a journey of leadership development while actively contributing to the betterment of our community, guided by the Mayor, City Council, and Ankeny Parks & Recreation. From organizing community outreach initiatives to orchestrating the annual Youth Leadership Symposium, the council embodies a spirit of service and positive change.

At this year’s symposium, a tradition of recognizing exemplary youth and youth groups continued. In a momentous highlight, the Unified Leadership Team was honored with the prestigious title of “Youth Organization of the Year.” This esteemed accolade underscores the team’s unwavering dedication to nurturing unity, leadership, and positive transformation throughout our community.

But the jubilation doesn’t end there – we are delighted to announce Mara Blevins as the recipient of the “Youth of the Year” award. Mara’s unyielding commitment, boundless passion, and remarkable contributions have left an indelible impression on all who have had the privilege of collaborating with her.
